I think it would help me to know what I'm interested in more if I were able to find a simple book or textbook type book about the basics of criminal law. I can't seem to find one and I'm hoping someone can help me. Sorry if I'm starting to take advantage of everyone here, and please tell me if I am, but there must be someone who wanted to learn a little bit about law without having to go to law school, or be in college. Sorry, I know that was a run on sentence. I actually refrained myself from typing a lot of useless crap here. It's okay if no one can help me, I'm not expecting much, but thank you to anyone who can help me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 3 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Btw, do the little smiley icons effect what you think of a topic? Maybe how serious you take it or give you an initial impression of it? I think it does for me, but more on some sort of subconscious level.

And someone please tell me if there's some sort of rule or "frowned uponness" that would keep me from posting random irrelevant ideas or questions or thoughts in a topic. Sorry if it's annoying. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 3 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
:embarassed: And what do you think about those?

I dragged the smiley onto the post and left the link. How much of it do I have to delete so it doesn't do that? Sorry... :(

Well, Black's Law Dictionary is a good start for familiarizing yourself with the terms and concepts involved.

Nexis Lexus puts out a text book of your states laws.

I have one, but its over 3 years old, and its IL state laws. I would recommend finding your states law book, and mulling over that. With the help of a law dictionary you should be able to figure it out.

Are you looking for books on criminal law theory / procedure / history, or a list of statutes?

I would want a book with the basics of all those things, but if not that then the answer is all of them. More than one book is fine.
