Dr. Antonio Reyes, a doctor from La Palma, was arrested Monday night after police say he grabbed a tire iron and threatened a driver who cut him off at a Costco gasoline station in Orange County.
According to witnesses, Reyes was among a crowd of motorists waiting in line at a Costco gas pump.
Another vehicle cut in front of him while he was waiting in line at the gas pumps.
Reyes says he only grabbed the tire iron after the other driver grabbed his shirt, shouted the "f-word", and threatened to kill him if he didn't back off.
He also says he didn't intend to inflict any harm.
The other driver locked himself in his car and called police.
No one was hurt.
Dr. Reyes was arrested and booked for brandishing a deadly weapon in a rude, angry, or threatening manner.
He was later released, and no charges were filed against the other driver.
Reyes, who is due in court in July, could face up to one year in county jail.
As gas prices continue to rise, there are sometimes 10 to 20 vehicles lined up for a chance to cash in on Costco's cheapest gas.
