Hello everyone, I am Yuruusan, I have travelled a great distance across the great landscape of the internet(s) :P in search of a freindly and civil although competitive place where ideas can be shared and in some cases debated over!

I am a refugee from many forums in search of the holy grail that is "online debate" which is open minded, and I believe I have found it with this site.

Do you have any idea how hostile most sites are to ideas not shared by the administrator? but that is the past, I look forward to meeting, speaking and of course debating with many of you

See you all around!

Greetings. I like to think that we have what you're looking for, and I can guarantee that the staff will not be hostile to you because we don't share your ideas. :) At the very least, this is because the staff themselves are split on most issues; beyond that, we also pride ourselves on objectivity and unbiasedness.

I know the feeling though; I was a refugee of that trek over two years ago, when this site was just starting up. Not everyone is looking for the same things in a debate site, nor is everyone looking for what they claim. Nonetheless, I think that what we have created here is what you've searched for. So, welcome to ODN. :)

Konichiwa, Yuruusan, I am puzzled about your choice of site identity; yuruusan means 'I will not forgive you', just what is it you do not forgive?

Welcome to the club yuruusan!I'm a relatively new member too and I think it is really totally unbiased and not in the least hostile.I think you are goin to enjoy your stay here.
Well if your identity does mean what fruitland has mentioned..I'm curious too..what is it that you do not wish to forgive??

If his name were "yurusan" you'd be right. Since it's not "yurusan" but rather "yuruusan", I'm forced to conclude that he either attached the honorific "san" on the name yuruu (a name I've never heard but it could be from some anime or something. Even so attaching san to your own name is a big no no :bad: ), or it's simply not japanese.

Other than that, welcome :)

Welcome Yuru! :) I agree with your sentiments...and it is for that very reason that ODN was created.

This is not to say that the administration here is perfect, never rubs anyone the wrong way, etc... But we do take pride in the fact that our staff is purposefully comprised of diverse backgrounds and beliefs, and we have never nor will we ever be hostile (as staff) towards members because of their beliefs.

However, as debaters, we do share the same weakness as others, in that at times debates may become heated and as such, tensions can rise around here. But policy/staff decisions are never affected by this and we actually go out of our way to prevent it from ever happening.

Hope you enjoy your stay! ;)

It is possible that yurusan was aready being used as a web name/identity, so that a modification was needed.

I think we are all making a lot of assumptions about the web name 'yuruusan'.I thin we should wait till he explains it himself.

Oh wow, thanks for the big welcome.
I was sure i had already posted about my name, but Fruitandnut is correct.
I am actually more the opposite of my "name", i choose it because im in the middle of watching ridiciulous amounts of anime = )
I was going to go with Shi ne "DIE!" or something else, but i settled on yuruusan, i think its appropiate for a debate forum !

Once again, thanks for the big welcome, I feel at home already
