Fools rush in
Where wise men never go
But wise men never fall in love
So how are they to know?

--Elvis Presley, et al (Fools Rush In)

I like that kind of quirky twist of a profundity. You have to kind of stop to think about it.

* * * * * * * * *

I've got a ticket to the moon
But I'd rather see the sun rise
In your eyes

--Electric Light Orchestra (Ticket to the Moon)

Very subtle allusion to one's wishes in an effectively metaphorical way.

* * * * * * * * *

One too many times
I twisted the gate
When I was crazy
I thought you were great

--The Cars (It's All I Can Do)

This is touche' lyrics at its finest.

* * * * * * * * *

When you're near me
I have difficulty respirating

--XTC (When You're Near Me)

Rather to the point.

* * * * * * * * * *

So don't you see, don't you see
That the charade is over?
And all the best deceptions
And the clever cover story awards
Go to you...

So kiss me hard
'Cause this'll be the last time that I let you
You will be back someday
And this awkward kiss
That tells of other people's lips
Will be of service
In giving you away

--Dashboard Confessional (The Best Deceptions)

Ouch!

* * * * * * * * *

She led me
She fed me
She read me like a book
But I'm hiding
In the small print
Won't you take another look
And take me away

--10cc (I'm Mandy, Fly Me)

Overly poetic dirge from the '70s, but I repeat myself.

And I hope, your majesty that you like your position.
I'll do everything I can to keep you by my side
and I'll stare off through the darkness to find us a kingdom.
Just kiss me before I go.

-That he'd call her royalty says a lot for his feelings, and his devotion to find even a kingdom for them. Wow.-
Saves The Day (Nightingale).

Seperation space.

Well here I am. I don't know how to say this.
The only thing I know is awkward silence.
Your eyelids close when you're around me to shut me out.
Don't shut me out.

-this to me is good because it's trying to push through someone trying to ignore you, and at the same time, alludes to them trying to get over their feelings for you BY ignoring you-
Saves the Day (Freakish).

I seperate spaces.

My gut is burning. Won't you find me some water?
Hey, just forget it can you bring me gasoline
and collect a couple forks, hold them three feet apart
and wait for lightning to strike to burn me up?
Cause I don't think that I've got the stomach to
stomach calling you today.

-now THAT is what I call a powerful disliking for someone-
Saves the Day (See You)

Hi. It's me again.

Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
’neath the cover of october skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow

True story-
I once sung this in a loud voice to a girl in a crowded hall. I started at one end, and sung all the way up it. I got up to her, looked into her eyes, and was about to lean in for a latin-accented invite to the movies when I lost my compourse and we both fell over laughing. Still, good song.
