Has anyone read it? It's a prophetic book from the 1920s by Julien Benda about the ideological currents of the time and how they converged into what we know understand to be some of the reasons of WWII and the Holocaust and certainly the aftermath. In fact, even though the book was written in 1927/28 Benda, with his amazing insight, accurately predicted where these ideologicial currents would lead toward: "This humanity is heading for the greatest and most perfect war ever seen in the world, whether it is a war of nations, or a war of classes." -183

It should be known that by "intellectual" Benda uses the term "clerks" in the medieval sense to describe "all those who speak to the world in a transcendental manner." I finished it about a month or so ago, but it's an amazing little book that still remains relevant today.
