Online Debate Network FAQ

Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.

How do I join a "Private Group"?

To be eligible to join a private group, you must legitimately adhere to the tenets, doctrines, ideology of the group itself.

For example, a Christian cannot join the "Atheist" group, and a Republican cannot join the "Democrat" group.

We operate on the honor system here at ODN. We will take your word for it as to what your true ideological affiliation is. Any abuse will result in the removal from the group.

Also, we ask that the member have at least 10 posts in the debate forums. This prevents completely random members from joining a private group.

Once these requirements are met, simply go to your USER CONTROL PANEL, scroll down to and click Group Memberships, then select which group you'd like to join. The Group Leader will then review the application. Please be patient as the group leader may not review the application for up to 24 hours.

How can I create a new private group?

1. You must be a member in good standing as well as an active member (visiting the forums close to once a day minimum).

2. You must have at least 4 additional members interested in joining your group.

3. Your group must have a theological, political or philosophical ideology (or shown that it is relevant to debate). At this time, we are not accepting applications for leisure groups.

4. You must provide 1) the group's name, 2) mission statement, 3) group requirements, and 4) group leader's name.

Please submit this information in the Site Feedback forum in its own thread. The staff will review the application and respond within 24 hours.
