I think the statistics show there is a percentage of American owners who won't truthfully answer the question "Do you have firearms in your house?" There is a percentage of citizens in the US who fear the day in the future when guns will be confiscated.

Illinois (Barrack Hussein Obama's state and the birthplace of Hillary Rodham Clinton) is the only state in the US that requires an identity card for all lawful gun owners. It has been that way for decades and was a response to a shooting that was done by a mental patient. It was designed to keep guns away from mental patients and other people who should not have guns. But as was learned on Valentine's Day, it is not working as it was intended.

Handguns are all but totally illegal in the city of Chicago for civilians, What is the result of all this gun control? Chicago is always battling it out to be the murder capital of the US every year and most of those murders are done with handguns.

Gun control is the third rail for Democrats in the US. It can be well argued that Al Gore lost his home state of Tennessee in 2000 , and the national election when voters in that state were made very aware of his position on guns and the need for an "ID card". Gun Rights activists launched a direct marketing campaign aimed at working class democrats. It seems to have worked.

Don't look for the US to go the way of Australia ever. Despite what some studies might show, we have enough firearms in the US to arm more than two out of every three men, women and children. In the US, it was Mr. Colt that finally made all men truly equal.

The California Rifle and Pistol Association has a great mantra: "Society is safer when criminals don't know who is armed."
We have enough youth, how about a fountain of smart?

To safer, I think you can also add the word polite. It's hard to find people who are more courteous than what one encounters at a public gun range...lots of "please, Thank you, and would you be so kind as to?????"
