    Music?

I have a pretty extensive music collection (at least for someone as poor as I am...)

Anyway, I have listened to all of those CD's over and over again.

So I am looking for something new to divert my attention for a bit.

Snoop always had good recommendations, but I have not talked to him for a while.

So, I will not tell you what type of music, genre, etc. Just name a few bands you like off the top of your head for me to look into. Hopefully someone will come up with something good.

    Bands NOT to name:

Led Zeppelin (I know more about Led Zeppelin... well probably than most of you. Jimmy Page and more recently John Paul Jones are the ones who got me into guitar...)

    AC DC

Deep Purple (unless you can think of some deep tracks I would not have heard)

    Alice in Chains

    Jimi Hendrix

    The Doors

That is about it. I know (musically) quiet enough about them.

Now if there are some songs you would like to recommend, rather than bands, feel free.

    Bands, albums, songs... all game.

All I ask is you refrain from naming any Led Zeppelin. Trust me, I have heard it and already love it. Gimme something new.

    Alright, impress me.
    Witty puns...

You pretty much gave it away that you're one of those classic rock t-shirt wearers.

    Check out:

    Simon & Garfunkel

    Wham!

    ABBA

    Cream

    Loverboy

    Nena

    The Prototypes

    Flight of the Conchords

    John Denver

That guy has the goofiest singing face EVER!!!

He's alright though, but I feel like I've heard his voice a thousand times. 2 stars for lack of originality.

And I'm surprised CDs are still around these days. They're clunky, costly, and bad for the environment.

You pretty much gave it away that you're one of those classic rock t-shirt wearers.

    Everyone always presumes that.

If I actually cared what your opinion of me was I might be offended. You would be surprised as to what i listen to.
    Check out:

    Simon & Garfunkel
    Already know em.

    Wham!
Never heard of them. Ill look into them.

    ABBA
    What? Seriously? Dancing Queen?

    Cream
Cream is amazing. Know em though. Any non memorable songs you could recommend there?

    Loverboy
If everybody really IS working for the weekend American Unions have really dropped the ball... Not much of an 80s Hair Band fan.

    Nena
Never heard of them, Ill look into them.

    The Prototypes
Again, never heard of em so Ill check them out.

    Flight of the Conchords
If I am not mistaken thats the TV show guys. They are amusing.

    John Denver
    Listen to him already.

When you assume things you make an ASS out of U and ME.

My musical taste are probably the most drastic here next to Snoops.

I can go from Les Paul to Alice in Chains. From Led Zeppelin to Johnny Cash.

From John Lee Hooker to Boston.

My main focus is blues/jazz mixed with rock.

Thank you for the recommendations though. I will most certainly look into them.

As usual, Snoop has hit the nail on the head.

Thanks, this guy is pretty talented.

Try Steely Dan and Blood Sweat and Tears - you can't go wrong.

Knechtges is on my hard drive so I must have liked him. I never listen to half the stuff in my collection. I just took a long road trip and didn't even bring one CD with me. Go figure. Sometimes I just like the silence of the open road and scanning the local radio stations.

Yes, sometimes I leave the radio off, but I have a loud Mustang...

Steely Dan is good, but I do not have any of their CDs. Perhaps I should get an album from them as well.

    As for you SB...

Name whatever you like. I looked into everything Whistle sent, I did not like a good portion of it... to pop 80s style for me... The Prototypes were all right...

Go ahead, name what you want. If I do not like it I will certainly let you know.

    Re: Music?

I suggest Robert Cray Band-Strong Persuader, one of my favorite rhythm and blues guys.

Foreigner, Chicago, and Boston are all classics to me. Oh, yeah....and Fleetwood Mac.

The link in my sig is to Christine Gambito. She's my favorite comedian, and she has a couple original songs I like.

    Re: Music?

    Aerosmith....you knew I'd say that.

I'd say Lynyrd Skynyrd, but, I don't think you like them

    CCR...gosh, I love them.

Plumb is Christian, but, rock Christian; pretty cool stuff. Great voice.

And I don't know how you feel about the Rolling Stones.

I used to like The Donna's.

Try The Horrorpops...they are Rockabilly, though. Don't know if you like that.

    Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.....

    Guns and Roses..Slash...killer guitar player.

I despise "Sweet Home Alabama". It makes me want to beat my head with a sledge hammer. But a lot of their other stuff is good.

    CCR...gosh, I love them.
    Who DOESN'T love CCR?

Plumb is Christian, but, rock Christian; pretty cool stuff. Great voice.
The last time I was drug to a Christan concert I wanted to slit my throat. There is only some much praising I can take before I want to beat someone over the head with their instrument...

It makes me want to listen to death metal... and I HAATTEEE death metal.

And I don't know how you feel about the Rolling Stones.
Have I never broken out into just randomly typing the lyrics to Stones songs like Jumping Jack Flash, or You Can't Always Get What You want?

    Okay...THIS is Plumb...at least listen.....

I don't know what that video has to do with anything, but, the song is killer.

and no, you've never started typing lyrics by the Rolling Stones. But, now that you say that...we HAVE talked about Jumpin Jack Flash. I think I was listening to the Stones last time we talked.

That video is from "Dirge of Cerberus".

And hey, the song wasn't too bad.

    Re: Music?

Look into getting some music from Nobu Uematsu, he's the guy who did all the music for just about every Final Fantasy game. GREAT stuff.

    Carlos Santana, always classic.

Ledbelly, BB King, Al Green, Willie Nelson, Three Dog Night, Yes, Heart, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Richie Valan(sp?), Buddy Holly, Jim Croce, Rehab, Lonestar, Merl Haggard, Hank Williams, Hank Williams Jr.

    All good stuff.

    Re: Music?

I agree with all of the above, except of course Hank Williams Jr...

Today's country music is not country...

Its white peoples version of rap...

But the rest of it is fantastic stuff.

This is turning more into a discussion of music, but hey that is cool.

BB King rocks, I wish I could afford a semi-hollow Gibson...

    Beautiful guitar.

Anyone know who Dire Straits is?

How did I know someone would say that.

I am not a big fan of most of their 80s stuff. Personally I prefer their first album:

I love Dire Straits. I have all their CD's and a DVD. My favourite is Brothers in Arms.

    Re: Music?

    Lacuna Coil (femme gothic rock/metal)
Within Temptation (femme symphonic gothic metal/rock)
Nightwish (old) (femme operatic soft metal/rock)
Tarja Turunen (femme classical operatic soft rock)

Yeah yeah, you said no genre, but have em anyway. Not old music, and only the ones I like but I dont really listen to old stuff...but Pink Floyd are alright I guess.
