    Fraud conspiracy...?

So. In the area I live in, there have been very numerous reports of debit/credit card fraud. We have no idea who's doing it, or where they are, or how it's happening. But it's all over the town. Several banks are being hit, not just the one I use and work at.

I'm sure this isn't a debatable topic, which is why I stuck it here. But my question is:
Is it likely or even possible that someone could be doing this to have people draw money from their banks, ultimately causing bank failure and financial crisis?
There is no path. Beyond the scope of light - beyond the reach of dark - what could possibly await us?
And yet we seek it insatiably. Such is our fate.

I kind of doubt it. Most people know there is a liability limit on credit card fraud. So in fact you are much safer keeping your money in the bank. Most banks don't even make you eat the limit, which is only $50 in the first place.
